Gambia birdwatching package
We work with experienced local guides and offer five full guided birding days during your one-week stay at Birdnest Gambia.
This holiday birdwatching package is designed for birders who want a pre-booked week of birding with an experienced local guide.
It includes 2 days of birding within walking distance of our lodge and 3 days of visiting some of the best birdwatching sites In The Gambia.
The package is on a full-board basis and includes breakfast, lunch and your evening meal. Your airport transfers, transport for the 3 days and the cost of your local guide.
Excluded are your flight and drinks
Our birding days are for between one and four people.

Examples of birding sites we visit
Tanji bird reserve – by the water, you can see numerous species of tern and wader. And in the dense bush next to the water, you can see Pygmy kingfisher, Giant and Pied Kingfisher, and Grey-headed Bushshrike. Fruiting trees attract African Green Pigeon and Violet Turaco. In the more mature woodland, there are White-crested Helmet Shrike, Northern Puffback and Osprey.
Kartong bird observatory – You can see Egyptian Vulture, Red-winged Pytilia, Eastern Olivaceous Warbler, Bonelli’s Warbler, Orphean Warbler, Greater painted Snipe, Lesser Moorhen, Little Bittern, Dwarf Bittern, Great Bittern and Little Greenbuls
Abuko nature reserve – You can see Black-crowned Night Heron, Striated Heron, Black-headed Heron, White-backed Night Heron, Grey-headed Bristle bill, Western Bluebill, Sunbirds, Black Kite, Hamerkop, Giant Kingfisher, Buff-spotted Woodpecker, Claas’s Cuckoo, African Jacana and Yellow-throated Leaflove.
Marakissa river camp – and Darsalami forest & wetlands produce many Raptors, Kingfishers, migrating Waders, Rollers, Black Crake Snipe, Heron and Hammerkop.
Mandinaba shrimp farm – Expect to see, Pin-tailed Whydah, Village Indigo, Quail Finch and also Cut-Throat Finch.
